With our Pinewood Derby only days away, the anticipation has been as
thick as winter fog.
Many of the requirements for Cub Scout patches are enhanced with suggested field trips to significant spots in the community.
A Blue & Gold Banquet can be the highlight of the year for some Cub
Scouts and their families.
A
rookie mistake by this first-time Cub Scout leader was to pick up my
boys from school each Wednesday and deliver the noisy brood to our
weekly meeting.

the first meeting with my Cub Scouts, we made a flag for each den. My
goals were to unify the boys and make our color guard more colorful at
pack meetings.
I
watched in my rear-view mirror as we drove home. I thought I'd better
savor the rare day when my Cub Scouts went home more tired than their
leader.
I may be a new Cub Scout den leader, but I haven't bought a yellow uniformed shirt yet -- I'm not sure I'm fully converted.
My balancing act came to a sentimental finale last Sunday when the
bishop's counselor announced from the pulpit that I would be released
from nursery.
