LDS Teacher Tips & Techniques
Read the latest from Emily's “Today in the Bloggernacle” feature.
Attention all LDS teachers!
May I direct your attention to the new and helpful forum-style blog LDS Teacher, where you can discuss teaching techniques, offer your own teaching tips and learn how to be a more effective gospel instructor. With the discussions being influenced by members of the church's curriculum development team, LDS Teacher is a wonderful resource for those hoping to better use the curriculum materials both "in the church and at home."
LDS Teacher began in June 2008 as an experimental blog arranged as a forum. Everyone is invited to join in the conversation in the forums, where such subjects as "Preparing to Teach" are discussed. You can even start your own discussion after a quick registration.
I love how LDS Teacher has groups organized by manual. If you are a Sunday School teacher, you can join that group and discuss how to better involve your students. Or start your own group discussing general or specific problems/solutions. The possibilities are vast, i.e. family home evening, or gospel principles or even achievement day ideas!
LDS Teacher has huge potential as gospel instructors come together to discuss and learn. It's an exciting endeavor! I love how one of the founders, Brian Hansbrow, put it: "The best teaching involves the whole class, so learning to be a better teacher can involve a whole community of LDS teachers." Brilliant!
LDS Teacher is similar to how LDSMediaTalk is ran by church employees but "is NOT an official publication of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."

And now for some of the other instructive posts from the Bloggernacle:
Power Pick --The power of "Using Anonymous" is deftly explained in this well-written post. The author is shocked in the midst of newspaper reading by someone who struggled with pornography actually using her name and location. She later finds out it is all a satire, but it causes her to reflect on the opportunity that blogging, both anonymously and not, has afforded people to be able to converse as a community. Favorite realization: "Because if there is good in blogging, it is this: your identity isn't as important as your message." Wow!
New Blog -- A totally GINORMOUS welcome to Seriously, so blessed! Of course this "cutest, happiest couple on the planet" deserve it, being so PERFECT and awesome all the time. Who wouldn't read this amazing blog that chronicles the life of "Tiffany/Amber/Megan/Nicole and I am married to Jordan/Jason/Wes/Taylor, and we have non-stop fun all the time and are LOVING married life! We are super busy but we still love to make time for fun stuff and we just love being married and living our awesome lives."
Seriously, so blessed has only been up for a month, but highlights the blessings of perfectly white teeth, cute candles, green Jell-O, being prego, vampire books, BFFs, fro-yos, 'Merica and many other cute/awesome/super whatevers. Love ya!
Forgotten Gem -- Rewind back to Jan. 13, 2006, where DKL bares his soul in the thoughtful post "What Next." A well-told experience that centers on his crisis of faith, the entire post is so worthwhile. But my favorite is the ending: "I am not a doubting Mormon. I'm just one that doesn't have a lot of answers. The scriptures depict Christ saying that we should all be like little children. I don't know what to make of this, except that we need to be comfortable being bewildered much of the time. In this one area, I'm absolutely confident of my faithfulness: I am bewildered much of the time." Inspiring!
Techie Tip -- In preparation for opening a new temple, the church will usually publish photos of the interior. Enter technology! For the first time, in announcing the open house for the new Twin Falls Temple, the church has released a short video clip that includes commentary and video of the interior. For those unable to attend the open house (starting today through Aug. 16) this is a great way to view the new temple. So click on over for a video peek "Inside the New Twin Falls Temple." Enjoy!
Have an enjoyable weekend!
